ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This image captures and recreates a photograph I took from inside a temple in Hampi, South India. I have used a technique called pyrography to burn the image into the wood. This contrasts with the lighter grain of the wood, the piece is finished with natural beeswax. I have used a blowtorch to scorch the dark surround of wood to bring the shadowy architecture into focus and create a feeling of stillness and mystery.
