Jenny King, born in Maryland USA, raised and residing in Marietta, Georgia, has always had a creative mind and restless energy about her. Sometimes that combination got her into trouble growing up, but that changed in 1998 when her parents gifted her a drawing class at a local college for Christmas. It was then that she embarked on her path into art. Having that constructive channel has definitely been a “gift that has kept on giving” says Jenny. Aside from another class or two over the next couple of years, she is virtually self-taught, having honed her skills while staying home with her two boys. Most everything Jenny knows about art is instinctual. Jenny is best known for her oil paintings created with a palette knife. She is an expert at manipulating underlying vibrant colors and using bold strokes to enhance and exaggerate light and shadow. She refuses to limit herself to only one medium as she is equally known for her mixed media pieces. "I love to find new ways that allow the freedom to express the subtleties and intricacies of myself and the world as I see it. The end result of each piece is extremely personal and incredibly unique." Most recently, Jenny has expanded her toolset to include all kinds of mixed media from textural substances to burlap to tissue paper. It seems there is nothing that she won't incorporate into her art. "I’m not likely to conform to anyone else’s idea of what or how my art should be. I'm following my heart when I go to create a new piece and I wouldn’t want it any other way." Prior to opening her own working studio in 2009 on the Historic Marietta Square in Georgia, USA, Jenny displayed & sold paintings at local art festivals, as well as various shops, offices, restaurants & galleries. Jenny's studio is a comfortable, relaxed and fun atmosphere where she and fellow international-selling artists may support and inspire each other.
