About The Artwork

"Terra Romana" is a Latin phrase that translates to "Roman land" or "Roman territory." It refers to the vast expanse of land and territories that were once part of the Roman Empire during its peak. The Roman Empire, established in the 1st century BCE and lasting for several centuries, was one of the most significant and influential civilizations in history. At its height, the Roman Empire controlled a vast and diverse region that encompassed much of Europe, parts of North Africa, and the Middle East. The phrase Terra Romana is often used to evoke the idea of the extensive and powerful Roman territories during this period. The decline and fall of the Roman Empire occurred over several centuries, marked by economic troubles, political instability, and invasions by various barbarian groups. By the 5th century CE, the Western Roman Empire had collapsed, leading to the fragmentation of the territories that were once part of the "Terra Romana."
