That midnight sun will burn you up Painting

This painting is made as part of a ritualistic and meditative practice, with the work being the final record of a spiritual state. I am deeply inspired by artists who draw from spiritual, and emotional states when painting. Artists such as Kandinsky, Russolo, Twombly, and Miro. I am inspired by my meditation practice which informs everything I make. I am drawn to paintings that have a sense of being about them. I attempt to make paintings that have embedded in them the intensity of the of the moment of their making. I hope the paintings take on a being of their own. That they have a soul and presence. I paint thickly with oil as I aim for the thick layers to pick up vibrations and nuances of color and emotion. Much in the same way early spiritualists believed photographic processes could capture occult phenomenon.
