The artist Painting

The memory is one area I currently study and provides inspiration for my work. An interesting characteristic of this is that it can undergo changes over time, until the original message is changed entirely. This concept along with the concept of collective memory was introduced by Maurice Halbwachs, his book Collective Memory. This work is created based on a photograph captured during university, the period in which I was researching the 17th century Dutch painting, themes, compositions and chromatics used during these years. The inspiration to paint this piece came with remembering my learning period, but today the memory of information from that century of art history is stronger.
