The Beauty Myth: Primordial Soup is a visceral meditation on the origins of form, identity and desire. Swirling layers of flesh-toned pinks, ochres, violets and deep umbers emerge from a luminous yellow ground. The suggestion is of perpetual becoming. The composition again works with Walker's meth...

Jane Walker, MA, MFA. PhD in Art and Media, Yr.2 University of Plymouth. 'Pilgrimages of the Unseen' explores expanded painting and filmmaking as a constellation of methodologies where non-conscious emergence, decolonising feminism, environmental activism, and human resilience converge across painting, drawing, printmaking, film, and photography. The archive of research works Jane releases now, (in 2026) are original paintings, limited-edition and open edition prints, as artefacts of this original, itinerant, experiential research practice. Images and film act as waypoints within Jane's extended painting journey. Moving between painting, the moving image, printmaking and filmmaking, Walker's work demonstrates how non-conscious travels through multi- media, generates new knowledge in art practice - thresholds where presence and absence, history and memory converge. Non-conscious-led language is shaped by intuitive, phenomenological events and psychic residues of place in Walker's work. Offered here as a pre-museum archive, they are autonomous works that situate painting, printmaking, photography and moving image as vital hauntological thresholds within painting’s unfolding and becoming. For collectors, this archive represents both rarity and critical significance: an artist-selected body of work released selectively for acquisition. The works bridge artistic research, cultural memory, and the artist-activist responsibility of keeping unseen voices—and unseen worlds—in play.
