Polar bears and penguins live 10,000 miles apart in their natural environments. Here Bissell imagines what it would be like if they swam together in the same ocean. Bissell began to study separate videos and photos of polar bears and penguins and observed them swimming in pools 500 feet apart from each other at the zoo. The Chase captures what it could look like if these animals were traveling together, moving in a fluid yet beautifully orchestrated motion. Static rays of light contrast the action of the polar bear and penguin chase through calm blue water, engaging us as viewers and asking us to follow along on their journey.
