About The Artwork

The Church of St. Jiří in Luková (Czech Republic) dates from the 14th century and was in use until the last century, until part of the ceiling came down during a funeral ceremony in the 1960s. Since then the church was damned, the villagers believed that spirits had taken possession of the building. The church took on a new life when an artist placed 32 plaster statues of ghosts there. It is now a tourist attraction.
