This mosaic-picture depicts a merry domovoy (a protective house spirit in Slavic folklore) enjoying banya (Russian sauna). He has a banya besom in his hand and a cup of beer waiting for him. This is a good subject for your sauna interior. It will pick you up and protect against evil spirits :) This mosaic-picture depicts a domovoy - a protective house spirit in Slavic folklore. This charming domovoy holds a houseshoe - a symbol of good-luck, prosperity and family happiness. There are log walls of russian "izba" on the background. This is a great present for a young family and for the wedding. The technique is called "artistic cutting" (or "Byzantine cutting") - every glass piece - bigger and micro - was cut manually. The glass pieces are put face up on the base - in the same way as the picture looks like at the end. This method is called direct composition. Glass pieces are fixed on the glass base by two-component glue. The seams are smoothed with two-component smoothing paste (Litokol Crystal) with "chameleon" effect by means of which the seams take the color of the glass pieces. The picture frame is done from aluminium and enhanced with the corners, which make the whole construction more rigid. The eyes for hanging are recommended to place 8-10cms from the corner.

Hello! My name is Larisa. I create mosaic-pictures based on the subjects of well-known painters. A mosaic-pictures can set off any interior - it will draw your eyes again and again and be a pleasure to you and your guests for many years. Moreover this is an excellent and luxurious present for your relatives, friends and collegues. What technique do I use? I use a technique which is called "artistic cutting" (or "Byzantine cutting") - I work with it more than 5 years. It consists in cutting every glass piece manually. I choose a form for each piece, cut it and apply. To have a good result the form, the color and the surface of the glass piece should perfectly continue the whole picture. It happens that I create some picture parts (even insignificant) for several days - disassembling and assembling a mosaic-picture again. Why is this different form a traditional mosaic? As every glass piece is cut manually, every mosaic is unique, every picture stays the one and only. Even if I want to create similar mosaic-picture I will never create the same, it will be different, because it's impossible to create identic tracery. What materials do I use? Semi-transparent and non-transparent stained glass. Non-transparent stained glass - so called "muffled" - has a great artistic potential. When watching the side thrust of such glass one can see that it consists of many layers. It makes the glass deep and refine and enrichs the whole picture. It is that effect which lets perceive the same mosaic-picture differently: every time watching it at various lighting it looks a little different. Of cause, no photo can transfer all nuances... Stained glass is not afraid of heat, cold, UV-rays, chemicals. Smalt has nothing on color richness of mosaics.
