Oil painting on stretched canvas. The Fisher King is a well known figure in Celtic mythology. The last in a long line of British Kings, who were thought to be the protectors of the Grail. However, The King and land were seen as one and the same thing, he was protector but also the physical representation of the land itself. The Fisher King was wounded, this has always been depicted as a wound in the groin area, therefore he could not carry out his normal duties and could not ride a horse and so fished, a favourite pastime of his. In this time he was waiting for the special one, a chosen one, thought to be Merlin to heal his wound. There are many versions of this story, and my interpretation explores that the wound itself as being that of the land. The land is wounded, and we are not functioning as a caring society. I will leave the viewer to explore this thought. The King and the land are one, this is also true of the people and the land. All is one.

France
Originating from Dorset, South England, UK, I have settled in the department of Morbihan, Bretagne, France, where both birth and chosen environments are sources of inspiration. My degree in biology, specialising in entomology, ecology and animal behaviour, lends assistance in understanding our place in the natural world, and I sprinkle my work with these elements. My vast and encompassing interests and subjects include transformation on all levels, mental health issues, environmental destruction, inner divinity, the natural and philosophical sacred space, and the interplay of nurture and nature on the human psyche. I have a special interest in the divine feminine but believe all life and all environments are sacred, such as the sea where I attempt to capture movement and translucency of eternal, oceanic change. Perpetually exploring new realms of creativity, I feel caged and become restless if persisting with any one type of genre. The act of creation is a mysterious process, I follow the energy and truly believe that the colours, textures and outer forms I’ve created have profound inner emotions behind them. Painting my inner landscape into being, I resonate with the world and celebrate all life. The inspiration that stimulates my creativity is conceptualized and birthed from my inner emotions, which colourfully give form and texture to my beliefs and ideas.
