ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting has been inspired by the Dutch writer Rosita Steenbeek in her novel "Meeting in Venice". She is writing o.a. about the funeral of Igor Stravinsky. 'I see the gondolaprocession passing by, slowly, the first one with a black cloth covered coffin, the golden angel liminous in the sun, the black veil rolling on the waves. It is quiet, without a sound the gondeliers are stabing their long sticks in the water".
