ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Fyodor Dostoevsky aptly described the pounding heart of people at the gaming tables in his novel "The Gambler". The writer's descriptions were based on personal experience, after all, he lost his fortune while staying at a spa in Wiesbaden in 1865. The roulette wheel, at which Dostoevsky feverishly waited to hear "faites votre jeux", can still be seen today. The graphic idea came from my experiments with JavaScript and the Processing app. Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology. There are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping.
