"The Holy Grail - Horizontal red rectangle framed in white, perpendicular to white vertical rectangle on blue square" is the third canvas of the tryptic "The Semi-Optics of The Holy Braille According to the Fucking Department for Transport". The three canvases consists in a circular, a triangular and a square painting initially designed and conceived as a tryptic, that is, as a whole set. Natural 15oz cotton canvases stretched on wooden frames - five or more rabbit skin glue layers and another five or more of primer - traditionally applied.

Paintwork consists in the superimposition of twenty or thirty layers of pigments, oil, impasto and siccatives. The thickness of the paintwork is around half centimeter and highly textured.

This work can be seen as a take on semiotics. A study of the sign and its signified. A challenge to the meaning of three familiar traffic signs reproduced through a traditional medium that is the oil paint on canvas, put in a different context than the ones these signs normally are seen.
