In my work I reflect the sensitivities of people in our time and the time itself in which I live. THE JOKER AND THE APPLE HARVEST. In this oil painting, figurativity and surrealism merge to create a vibrant scene. The contrast between the colorful character and the mystical apple harvest provokes thoughts about reality and fiction. Using impressionistic brushstrokes, I create a world that both captivates and challenges viewers to ponder the depth of apparent happiness.

Born in Gdansk, grew up in Germany, studied in Austria, likes to travel. My curriculum vitae underlines my open-minded nature. My art is guided by an interest in and receptivity to a variety of stories. In my painting I convey moods and thus initiate the process of feeling, sensing and dreaming. It is an inner consequence of my work to look for new possibilities of subjective expression. In my work, abstraction and representation are not mutually exclusive, but enrich and reinforce each other. Life is made up of adventure, great emotions and philosophy. I love "to give things a soul", "to get to the bottom of things", to think about them, to move them back creatively and to recombine them. All of this happens before the painting process, in the painting process itself I strive for thoughtlessness. I love direct experimentation, I want to surrender to painting, enjoy the moment of painting. This results in a liveliness on the screen paired with narrative moments. My work is a mirror of my alertness and my very own will to express. Full of desire and urge, I rush forward undeterred in painting. My search for creative forms of expression takes the viewer on a journey of the pictorial and suggests liveliness, open-mindedness, motivation and solidarity reflection. " ...Dominika Block is a full-blooded, highly sensitive painter with great powers of expression. She possesses an astute sense of aptness, and even when she occasionally overshoots the mark, this only enhances her authenticity. Our society needs the kind of art that is constantly aware of what is happening around, willing to challenge the fleeting memory of our time. Such documentations speak the clearest possible language..." Prof.Dr.H.Bathelt,M.A. "Dominika Block asks haunting questions about the meaning of events and their after-effects on our society. In her pictures she reflects the sensitivities of people in our time to be able to absorb articulated emotions, worries and the resulting trains of thought. " Rudolf Wesner, journalist "The artist, who was born in Gdansk in 1977, moved to Heilbronn in 1988 and graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in 2004, has an eye on the world and its foolish goings-on. Block paints in an expressive style in which naturalistic, figurative and gestural elements come together condense suggestive imagery. " Martina Kitzing-Bretz, journalist
