ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The plant featured in this painting is Mullein, it is a beautiful, dramatic plant and famed for its folk history and its healing powers are documented from earliest times, last year it grew near by to my studio on the edge of woodland in the English Cotswolds. The Mule is sometimes known as a" Beast of Burden" valued only as a worker, I wanted to combine the two symbols to create a situation where the Mule could access the healing properties of the plant and bring it hope.
