The orchid in a deep valley Painting

Yu Hsing-Shan Live and work in Taipei, Taiwan. Yu Hsing-Shan,a full-time artist, specializes in oil paintings, and works with abstract painting. She graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts from the National Taiwan University of Arts, and won the First Prize in The Western Art Awards as well as the Outstanding Creation Award during her time at the institute. Since she started working full-time in 2007, she has been very fortunate to have been favored by galleries throughout the year after her first solo exhibitions from the previous year. So far, she has proven to be a prominent artist. From “Flying” series to “Floating” series, more than ten years of creation, "Flying" series painted from the collection is the first half of the decade's professional artwork stage so far. In this way, her life is revealed. The performance shows that the artist's early artistic existence was generated by repeated entanglements in the exploration of the original nature, combined with the reality of survival, even though it was a game of pensive nature or leisure travel, in which aesthetics were painted. The body in the medium serves as a standard, bringing the texts of daily life into an artistic or literary imagination. So, when we recall the early ”Flying” series , we need to provide explanations for the source of the imagination, so that we can think of the works presented at this stage being mainly sensations based on physical conditions. There is one obvious feature in “Floating” series. The condition it presets is situated between the psychedelic and the real like a man-made dialectic. We observe through these works of art: there is no blurred vision or the dramatic unknown. The object in the work does not express any reality or symbol in real life. Even if this is really so, we can still directly observe a hard-to-describe condition between the psychedelic and the real. It can also be said that the psychedelic and the real as delineated in the paintings do not exist in our vision but do so in our direct observation. To understand this, we have to first realize that all kinds of arts are fictional because what fiction can represent is basically detached from reality. Yet, the psychedelic in comparison with the fictional as showed in the floating series is fictional with a more profound meaning. This reflects a breakthrough in traditional spirits by using a tool to extend our self-imagination and deepening the fictional into the psychedelic.
