The title of the work references a quote of Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher. The painting is comprised of marks I made with an expressively abstracted gestural approach over an under image originally made as a monotype. The title, I feel, is appropriate here, in the context of working over an older painting/print, destroying the past and bringing it into the present.
