The Storm is Coming Painting

Hi, my name is Pavneet Sembhi and I am a multi-disciplinary artist. My main body of work focus on linework and illustration but alongside this I enjoy creating abstract oil paintings. I was born in London but now live further north in leafy Worcestershire. I have always been fascinated with the Sky and the lyrical abstraction movement — the colour gradients we often see at sunset and sunrise; it’s a feeling of complete awe. Bright yellow-orange merging seamlessly into dark blue, deep purple fading into blush coral-pink; each colour perfectly transitioning into the other. The oil paints are a vehicle for me to play with this interaction of effortless blends and striking texture—not to just simply paint a sky with clouds. I begin my paintings with a flat blend of colours all melting into each other before building layers of depth and texture. I particularly enjoy mixing muted tones and tints, de-saturating colours as well as using highly contrasting values.
