The painting is based on ancient Greek mythology. The DOE was a sacred animal of the goddess Artemis.
The capture of The cerinian fallow deer was the third task assigned by king Eurystheus to the demigod hero Heracles in the story of the labors of Heracles. After catching the animal and heading towards Eurystheus, Hercules came across Artemis and her twin brother Apollo. He begged Artemis for forgiveness and explained to her why he was forced to catch the animal. Artemis really accepted his apology and forgave him, if only he would let the animal go free. Hercules agreed. When he arrived at the court of Eurystheus, he learned that The king intended to add the animal to his personal menagerie. So Hercules developed a plan. He said that Eurystheus himself should come and take the animal from him. The king went to Heracles and the DOE, but the hero deliberately left the DOE free. The deer ran away with its unnatural speed and returned to its goddess. Then Heracles said that Eurystheus simply wasn't fast enough.

Hello, dear guest! My name is Margarita Basaley, I have been painting oil paintings since 2019. I think there is nothing stronger than love. In any form. Therefore, my paintings often depict people and animals as their symbols. My paintings are a reflection of me, my experiences, my emotions and feelings. I want you to feel something when you look at them, too. Enjoy your viewing! Thanks!
