My work is an emotional exploration that plays with the geometry of cubism, the intensity of expressionism and the subtlety of impressionism, converging in a semi-abstract vision. Through oil painting, I capture the contrast between warmth and coldness, light and shadow, inviting the viewer on an introspective journey. This piece promises to bring a dynamic and reflective energy into your home, stimulating conversations and deep thoughts. Translated with (free version)

Tomàs Martínez Suñol (Dieulefit, 1964) was trained as an illustrator, but has been painting since very young. Born in France, where his family went into exile due to the political situation of Catalonia at the time, he spent much of his childhood in splendorous Provence, until moving back to his parent’s native city, Badalona, where he currently lives. As a child he learned to paint at his father’s side - Lerma - with whom he shared various experiences in different fields of the plastic arts. Tomàs grew up in a deeply art-oriented family environment, influenced as well by his uncle Àlvar Suñol, although it was his father who introduced him to the professional world of painting. After an initial period of training at the Escola Massana in Barcelona as a potter, he went on to study illustration at the Pau Gargallo’s school, though painting was still his preferred medium. After finishing his degree as a specialized workshop master and dabbling in different approaches, he decides to concentrate on figurative abstraction in depth: oil and spatula start shaping his works. From this point on, his international trajectory begins, where his works find home in many private collections throughout Europe (England, Holland, Italy, Scotland) , as well as in the United States and Japan. Curently, he finds inspiration in the old streets of his adoptive city. Long observations of the local neighbourhood initiate a pictorial process that evolves towards an almost absolute abstraction, transforming these streets into urban landscapes of cities in the world. And the evolution goes on...
