"This is why I love you" is a warm, sensual, vibrant painting dedicated to the fiery sky and wind. It is made with a beautiful palette of crimson, rose madder, umber and metallic gold pigments, giving it a jewel-like appearance. It bears my classic ascension movement, with the sky meeting the earth in an imaginary, ethereal landscape. Its title was taken from my love of painting. In creating this piece, I wanted to capture the essence of love's ineffable beauty. Through my brushstrokes, I employed oils and pigments to convey a warmth that undulates across the canvas. The abstract form allows emotion to flow freely, untethered by the confines of shape, giving each observer a unique, personal connection. It is a visual symphony of passion and tenderness, poised to fill any room with its resonating energy of affection.

Jennifer Baker is a contemporary oil painter with working studios in northern Italy and Colorado. Her work explores the poetry in the natural world, lyrical beauty and power. Jennifer is a recent cancer survivor, and her latest body of work reflects the light she sought at the end of the tunnel, the light captured from the natural world and transmuted into her paintings. Jennifer considers herself a bearer of the light. Jennifer’s paintings are an ode to life, to becoming, and to majesty. They are a reminder to take a moment to release the trappings of the mundane, to look up, down, far, and close. To be still. She is masterful oil painter and captures light in a way that seems impossible. Her paintings are mutable creatures that are never the same twice, changing with the seasons, time of day, weather, and mood. Her work creates an immediate atmosphere in any space. Jennifer’s paintings have been exhibited extensively in Europe and the United States in numerous exhibitions, and are part of private collections in 17 countries around the world, in particular the United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, and Germany. Jennifer is a graduate of the school of Visual Arts in New York City, where she studied under the tutelage of Jack Youngerman. She lives for half the year in the majestic mountains of northern Italy, and for the other half in the Colorado Rockies. She works often on large commission paintings for clients around the world. Several of her pieces were recently auctioned at the Orlando Museum of Fine Art. She was an awarded artist at the 2021 Biennale di Genova. Visit Jennifer on Instagram at
