Three koi fish swimming in clear waters, painted with Japanese ink on Chinese rice paper. The koi fish are highly popular in Japanese art, they symbolise prosperity, good fortune and perseverance in life. The koi (cultured carp) have been admired for centuries for their beautiful colour patterns and graceful swimming, they go about their life, oblivious to us, humans. The painting is signed and sealed, wet-mounted on rice paper and ready for framing or mounting on a scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing.

Malta
Canadian artist based in Malta. I studied oil painting in the South Studio Atelier in Malta. The Atelier follows the great traditions of the Florence Academy of Art, so do I. The transience of life pushes me to create, to capture the moments of beauty I see all around. I also studied Asian art, in China, Canada, and in Japan. Fragile rice paper gives a different feeling. It's the best canvas to express the complex simplicity of ink painting. I am using centuries-old Japanese recipe to mount my own artwork.
