The sketch for this work was made in a Kiev cafe. The girl was sitting at the table, covering half of her face with her palm. She looked tired, but maybe she was only daydreaming. But to a greater extent, I was impressed by the plasticity of the image. I had a notebook at hand, I sketched a drawing....

Vladimir Davidia (Selivanov) I once read Hermann Hesse's novel "Steppenwolf". There is an interesting symbol in this novel - the entry point to the "Magic Theater" (the place where the Self is revealed through carnival practice) is located in the space between the church and the psychiatric hospital. Then I thought that it was exactly about my life and about my creativity. About life, because I am not just an artist (art has its origins in religious practice), but also a practicing psychotherapist. About creativity, because for me painting is a point of entry, a method of getting into the "Magic Theater". A similar idea was embodied in life by Russian avant-garde artists, in particular, in their opera "Victory over the Sun". In many ways, I feel like the inheritor of this tradition. I was born, live and work in Ukraine, Kyiv.
