About The Artwork

An example of my work 2011.Throughout the world you hear folk stories of creatures such as Leprechaun and Gremlin. In South Africa there are stories of Tokoloshe , a small brown hairy mischievous man that likes to play with village children. Tokoloshe has a bony lump on his forehead that he uses for head butting .Adults usually cannot see him because he holds a magic stone in his mouth that keeps him invisible . My interpretation of Tokoloshe is a painting where you are able to see Tokoloshe steeling milk from a village cow , you see him because he has removed the stone to drink. Tokoloshe has an enormous penis that he throws over his shoulder or ties it around his waist, in this painting i have shown it symbolically as a serpent. Painted on canvas and mounted on a wooden box frame ready to hang.
