The entire series « Trames » indicates a purification of the drawing that already figured in the precedent series (Labyrinth Cities - Urban Kilim) : lightening of the matter, of the impact on the eyes. The painting gives to see a memory, of what is left in itself - of what has been seen and that time and memory have rescinded or erased. Cara’s tonality is unique, nearly monochromatic. Her intention is keen to render the colours of the two cities : Fez’ Medina, close to her heart, and her hometown, Avignon, where she works. She thus establishes another bridge between the Papal City and the Soufi City by empha- sizing their architectural similitudes : their labyrinthic geometry and their bistre / grey colour.

Cara’s work, and posture as a painter and an artist, arise from a singular encounter: the use of organic matters both linked to nature and to ancient Asia. Paper and canvas are tinted like the Chinese artists used to, not with tea, but with coffee (the contemporary What’else!). The resin constituting, with the slate pigment, the pictorial matter is essentially made from Soja. And the ink Cara uses comes from a traditional Japanese method that endows it with exceptional depth and great preciosity.
