'Trinidad Song' captures a wonderful memory of island songs. Inspired by a personal experience, the artist, Cone, wanted the moment and the memory to live on through this unique artwork. The story goes like this...Cone was in Atlanta on a business trip. As Cone walked down Peachtree Street one summer night he heard a guitar and a smooth voice singing "Day-O, Daaaaay-O, daylight come and me want to go home." Cone could not resist the urge to stop and join in the chorus. The street performer was a very talented young man from Trinidad. Cone sing with him in good harmony on the street as people strolled by. Cone showed his new Trinidad friend how to play 'Blue Suede Shoes' by Elvis and 'Got My Mojo Working' by Muddy Waters. After about a half hour of singing and playing guitar, and some cash into the open guitar case, Cone wished him luck and left. However, the memory lived on to become this painting - a Trinidad song in downtown Atlanta.
