Fariz Kovalchuk is a self-taught artist living in Ottawa, Canada. Born and raised in the former Soviet Union, he moved to Canada in 2008. Since then, Fariz has exhibited his work in Toronto and was selected to participate in juried exhibitions in the institutions like the Art Gallery of Ontario. Fariz focuses on a variety of themes including dynamics of nature and environment, understanding of human nature and psychology, philosophy and anthropology. Fariz enjoys painting with oils, but also uses pastel, ink and watercolours. His style and technique varies since he does not believe nor follow consistency in creativity, rather he strives to constantly experiment, explore and break new grounds.
