About The Artwork
The painting depicts a view of the East River in New York City with a tugboat and barge in the distance. It was late afternoon and I was on a sailboat headed south from Newport, RI. I took a large number of photographs during the transit through New York. I enjoyed seeing the city from a different perspective: from the water. The work is oil paint on acrylic primed canvas, with the canvas wrapped to the back side of the stretcher bars, and fastened with steel tacks. Since the canvas is fastened on the back, the painting could be displayed without a frame.
