About The Artwork
In my Santa Monica, California, neighborhood, the shortest way to walk to the beach is through a gloomy, sandy tunnel under Pacific Coast Highway. It's an odd momentary meeting ground of all the different people on their way to beach fun, or on their way back. I wanted to capture the contrast between the cast concrete and the promise of a lovely sunset. Inspired by Edward Hopper's observation of American life.
