ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Oil On Canvas 20x24" 2015 Based on a fable by Aesop titled, "The Cat Maiden". It focuses on nature vs nurture. A cat fell in love with a young man, and asked Venus to change her into a woman. Venus consented. The young man saw her and loved her, and took her home as his bride. While the two were in their chamber, Venus wished to discover if the Cat also altered her habits in life, she unleashed a mouse in the room. The Cat, started up from the couch and pursued the mouse, Venus was disappointed and returned the Maiden to her former shape.
