Universal Being Painting

I have been doing some serious soul work, and recently was inspired to dig into the idea of Inherent Worth - your inner worth that cannot be diminished by any means. That means no external attack nor internal lack of worth can actually reduce your true worth. You can listen to the podcast episode I created about this concept here: During this deep soul dig, I found the courage to approach an art form that I had previously decided I was not worthy of approaching - oil painting. Specifically a portrait - even more specifically non-Caucasian skin tones. (Painting Caucasian skin tones is fairly forgiving because you can always cheat letting the white of the paper or canvas do a lot of the work for you.) I have not been classically trained as an artist. I have taken a few classes but for the most part, I am self-taught. Because of this I had held the belief that I would not be able to paint with oil. I believed I would need special training. This was the story I told myself for so many years. I even tried to convince myself that I just didn't like oil paints because they took too long to dry. The truth is, I just didn't feel worthy. I was judging myself as somehow "less than." This story brought pain and a little despair. Thankfully, the other work I do in the world called me to investigate these beliefs. I was called to honesty.. I was called to accept the truth of my being. I am worthy. I am connected to the Divine. I am what I believe I am. If I do not like what I have made, I can change my mind, and create a new belief. I am what I believe I am. As I accepted approaching my Inherent Worth I was called to be brave and try to paint with oils. Then, something brazen took over and said "well, why not go all out! Try something even harder!" The result is a gorgeous, multi-cultural being who represents the Universal Being. She represents the Divine, the Divine Feminine, the Indigenous, and the human family that are directly connected to the stars. She represents owning your worth and the willingness to be brave. This piece is elite pigment oil paints on a wood panel. The background is painted with matte acrylic, and the oil is sealed with varnish. This piece is unframed.
