ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is one in a series I have been working on over the last few years. I start each work with a reclaimed piece of plywood from various sources including construction dumpsters. I look for patterning in the wood as I lay out the composition. Some pieces are very minimal and others have strong pattern of circles. The color is always the dominating force for each artwork. Intense colors come alive with the use of the resin. Digitally, this is not always apparent but in person each piece creates its own inner world and light. The circles that dominate each piece implies a planet of unknown spiritual origin where the viewer creates their own story.

Born 1964 in Sevilla, Spain. Raised in the southern US. Influenced by arts and crafts of the South as well as the Abstract movements from Kandinsky on. All things form the man you are. My current artwork deals with the need for the quiet in life without all the words that stop our minds and limit our ways of seeing. Pure visual language. I work with some non-traditional materials in my paintings. Most notably TAR. I use this for its organic quality and the way it causes chemical reactions in the paintings themselves. My drawings use the same visual motifs as the paintings but involve aggressive use of pencil and oil pastel.
