I grew up in a very art-influenced environment because my parents owned a Jazz Cafe in Cologne in which artists and musicians met for the past 30 years. After school I studied Art History at first, but soon discovered that my interests lie more in the Art making than in their scientific studies. So I started studying Fine Art in the Art Academy Düsseldorf. Ever since then I burrowed through Painting, treating classic motives mainly. Having begun with nude drawing – looking for the right line -, continued with nude painting – the examination of volume, surface and space -, I eventually attacked the still life, which theme I kept treating and retreating untill the end of my studies; About my Art: The composition comes to the fore; line, colour, motive – all serves the composition, the picture, the Beaux-Arts. I make use, for example, of plant forms, as their clarity interests me, as well as their plain affirmation of this, and no other particular form. Even in chaos, e.g. of tangled branches, the single grown form remains clear and precise. The peculiarity of a natural form inspires me to a peculiar but dictinct, and spontaneously found, artificial form.
