ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a painting I did at the start of summer 2019, exploring shape and balance and the relationship between the both. The composition was initially a spontaneous pencil sketch on A5 paper that I then scaled up and drew onto the canvas I stretched. Using tape I masked the shapes and painted them one by one. The canvas itself is quite fine and I have chosen to leave the guidance lines visible so the viewer can get a better idea of my process and to give better insight into WHY the shapes are in their positions. The textures of the shapes are different too; some brushstrokes follow the contour of their shape and others I have decided to leave flat. Please ask any questions you may have.
