About The Artwork

Martyrdom is a concept that transcends the religious sphere and manifests itself as an act of profound sacrifice for a cause, conviction or faith. In its essence, martyrdom implies the willingness to renounce one's own life, face persecution, torture or even death, in the name of principles considered sacred or supreme. Historically, martyrdom has been a recurring phenomenon in various religious traditions, where those who experience it are venerated as martyrs, examples of courage and firmness in defending their beliefs. In the Christian context, martyrs have been venerated since the early times of the Church, remembering those who suffered persecution for their faith in Christ. However, martyrdom is not limited only to the religious sphere. In the fight for justice, freedom and human rights, there have also been examples of individuals who, through martyrdom, have challenged oppressive regimes or social injustices, becoming symbols of resistance and hope. The act of martyrdom, then, transcends mere physical sacrifice, acquiring a symbolic and moral meaning that inspires future generations to continue fighting for justice, truth and freedom, even in the most adverse circumstances. It is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the ability to resist oppression with dignity and courage.

BIOGRAPHY My name is David Vallejos, I was born in the city of Buenos Aires Argentina in 1991. I left home when I was 16 years old, since then I have dedicated myself to working in all kinds of jobs, leaving aside everything that fascinated me. . I have lived the last 2 years of my stay in the city on the street, where I have seen everything, until after 24 years I decided to leave the city to go alone with a backpack in hand to start a new life in northern Argentina. At the age of 27 I discovered my love for art and although I did not plan to dedicate myself to it, I began to take distance painting classes with Hangel Montero and Fermin Garcia Sevilla (2 excellent Spanish painters), although I already mastered drawing, I learned how to use color, composition, diversity of materials, etc. At the age of 28, I began to study at the Jujuy Province Arts Faculty with the intention of interacting with people from the artistic sphere and it was there that I began to learn about all kinds of styles, techniques, themes, painters, etc. I started working in my own style and creating my own works, which has opened the doors for me to participate in exhibitions and to sell my work. Today, at the age of 31, I dedicate myself totally to painting. MY PAINTINGS I work all my paintings with oil since its versatility allows me to achieve the effects with which my works are identified. I mostly use a range of muted colors, earths and ochres, I avoid the use of saturated colors unless I urgently need to highlight a specific point. My works are closer to a dark surreal style and the themes I use are a combination of everyday situations that inspire me in a particular way with my past experiences and my way of seeing the world. I use the use of humanoid figures with deformities or disfigured faces, apocalyptic landscapes, creatures and sequences out of the ordinary, since what I seek is to keep the viewer uncomfortable but attentive to the bodies trying to decipher the background of what they are observing, because the The viewer will recognize the forms but the distortion with respect to reality with which I make them makes the viewer enjoy analyzing every detail and the general idea of the work but at the same time in a certain way identifying with what he sees because despite the distortion it can be seen that it is an almost human figure.
