Matteo Fuzzi is an Italian artist, he works and lives in Rimini. He received his MA in Painting in 2009 from the Academy of Arts, Urbino, Italy. In 2012 was selected for the prestigious Jerwood Drawing Prize, London. His research is mainly focused on landscape and abstraction, taking elements found in nature in order to create a new abstract balance, where each work is a process of layering, intuition and experimentation, an investigation into what an abstract painting is or could be. Inspired by the Grand Tour in the Romantic period, where many artists, poets and philosophers got the road towards Italy to discover its ruins, architectures and landscapes, his latest works are part of an ongoing series of collages and paintings on travels through London, exploring posters and ruined walls found in the city, intriguing shapes on the streets or anything else that catches his attention to create dense and structured works in an additive and subtractive process.
