Born and raised in Paris , France , Virginia Calleja Elyassi spend some time in Spain where she reconnected with her Mediterranean roots .There , she started painting under her grand mother s last name : ALEVITO . Currently living in New-York city she is an emerging artist working primarily in oil . Self taught , her inner voice speaks in bold colors and abstract shapes. Her work process is done in two steps the first step is based on physical and subconscious gestures using spontaneity and improvisation . Layers after layers .The second phase is more intuitive , working on balancing the colors and shapes of the painting. Painting with no fear , the layers are a constant battle between conscious and subconscious gestures. To paint is to be free.
