Valley in the Sun (sold) Painting

Abstract painting, landscape, 45in x 54in, ready to hang unframed . I like to think of my color field paintings like Mark Rothko and Pat Steir had a baby in the nineties. My process is all about capturing a liquid horizon with the technique of building translucent layers of color by pouring the paint directly onto the surface. I mix cups of color glazes and pour them onto panels and canvas allowing the paint to pool,drip,blend and blur. I control the flow of paint across the surface by tilting and turning the structure. The surface builds layer by layer until a completed landscape emerges weeks or even months after it was first poured.
