Yuri Kuznetsov began to paint relatively recently, but was interested in painting all his life. In general, the style of the work is close to impressionism. Although there are some differences, for example - bold use of black, which is not typical for this direction of painting. A feature of the work is bright colors, expressive manner, and a variety of compositional solutions. In the history of painting, the viewer can often see a reflection of the author’s inner world in his works, so Yuri’s canvases reveal his portrait and character in the language of the palette used, using an individual style. Versatility and courage, a vivid personal feeling, his own vision of the world, the canvases of the author tell in their stories, composition and color. His canvases harmoniously combine the static architecture and the dynamics of the elements, romance and pragmatism. These qualities coexist in Yuri, not only not contradicting, but emphasizing and complementing each other. As in an avid yachtsman, there is courage in him. In the author’s style of painting, he also prevails, the desire to move forward, to try something new. At the exhibition “Big City Lights”, the main characters were images of urban landscapes of huge megalopolises. The author pays much attention to the night city, which in the works of Yuri Kuznetsov appears in a completely different form, in other colors, gets new meanings, becoming at the same time close and mysterious. However, the versatility of the author cannot be limited to one plot. The author’s great experience as a traveler creates stories about Masai, animalistic images, and of course, impressions created with paints and brushes from numerous trips to different parts of the world. A special place in the work of Yuri Kuznetsov is the sea. As a yachtsman, Yuri Kuznetsov with amazing sincerity depicts not only the expanse of water, ships, lagoons, marinas and port cities, but also the very experience of finding a person in a mysterious space filled with legends - the sea. Contemplating the artist’s work, you can feel the breath of a fresh and slightly salty sea wind, the sound of waves beating on a boat, the taste of freedom unlimited by anything. Yuri Kuznetsov does not ignore the motive that delights almost any artist; colorful floral still lives also complement the exhibition. The feature of which was the so-called pasty technique, using volumetric smears.
