Viva la Vida Painting

Hello, Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Olga Glioza, and I am a self-taught oil painter. At a younger age, I studied a traditional Byzantine style icon painting, using tempera colors, in Kazan Cathedral in St.Petersburg. Years later, I decided to explore the oil painting by myself, and this has been one of the most exciting journeys so far. In my portrait paintings, you will find lots of influence form that Byzantine tradition, from the way I draw to the way how I put colors on the canvas. Although, I seek to blend this traditionality with contemporary context. Originally hailing from Russia, over the past 12 years I have lived in China, Croatia, Cuba, finally settling down in Poland - and each of these experiences have influenced me in some way, which I try to transmit to the canvas.
