Dana Kohlmann is a visual artist, exploring inner landscapes that heal the soul. Using botanicals as spiritual expression, her environments process darkness and radiate light. Kohlmann is moved by the interconnectivity of the universe and utilizes nature as a sanctuary and conduit to infinite realms. In her paintings, Kohlmann’s intuitive marks prompt undulating grounds, repeating motifs and shifting scale. Background and foreground merge to form an ever expanding narrative, liberating an internal world. A tapestry of earth elements come together and provoke a psychedelic quality, while the playful tones and whimsical flora extend a joyful comfort, and encourage the embrace of the unknown. Space for introspection is created and invites an odyssey within. Kohlmann (b.1986, United States) currently works from her home studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She holds a BFA in Packaging Design and an AAS in Exhibition Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. For 12 years, she worked as a multi-disciplinary designer with a focus in the luxury fashion, fine jewelry and cosmetics industry. Since 2017, Kohlmann’s visual language has become defined through her paintings. In 2019, she was an artist in residence with the Mauser Foundation in Costa Rica. In 2022, she began exhibiting with The Other Art Fair and has been included in the L.A., Dallas and Brooklyn editions. In 2023, she was interviewed for the Art and Cocktails Podcast. In 2024, she partnered with Samsung’s Frame TV, featuring her work in their Art Store. In 2025 she teamed up with Nooworks for an artist collaboration, turning a painting into a pattern for an apparel collection. Her work has been published in Candyfloss, Art Seen and Create! Magazine, in addition to being featured on Hyperallergic and The Jealous Curator. Kohlmann has been included in group exhibitions at Tambaran 2 Gallery, Jen Tough Gallery, and Dryden Gallery.
