Warm Reflections Painting

Kim Casebeer divides her time between the studio and painting outdoors en plein air. Kim feels strongly that her plein airs give her valuable insight when working on larger pieces and therefore keeps outdoor studies as reference. The light, shadows, wind, rain, sun, and how she felt - these are all important notes to capture. She does not want to just paint pretty pictures. Kim has an uncommon command of color, light and atmosphere and using these skills, can take a landscape painting and elicit an emotional response. She may have 8-10 pieces at various stages of completion in her studio at any given time because she needs to put them away at various stages in order to be able to get them back out and look at them with fresh eyes.  Even though it takes time for each painting to reach it’s full potential, Kim keeps the brush work fresh and keeps the outdoor studies close in order to remind her of that spontaneity.   Kim’s work has been featured in magazine articles in American Art Collector (2009, 2011), Western Art Collector (2010), Southwest Art (2011, 2015), Art of the West (2011, 2018), PleinAir Magazine (2013, 2015, 2018), and Fine Art Connoisseur (2014).  She is featured in the Grand Teton and Yellowstone section of Art of the National Parks book co-authored by Susan Hallsten McGarry and Jean Stern. Kim’s work was featured on the cover and in Fine Art Tips, published by Northlight Books. Kim is a Master Signature member of the American Women Artists, and a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Oil Painters of America. She won Best of Show at the 2010 Nomadas del Arte National Invitational. Kim received Best of Show in May 2013 in the BoldBrush Competition. She received Honorable Mention in the overall 2012-2013 PleinAir Magazine competition. She received Honorable Mention, Landscape Category in the 2013-2014 Art Renewal Center’s Salon and an Award of Excellence in the 2014 Western Regional OPA Show. Kim received the OPAM Memorial Impressionist Award of Excellence in the 2015 National OPA Exhibition. Her piece won the Master Class Division in the March 2017 Art Muse Contest. Kim received the 2018 Superintendent’s Award at RMPAP Plein Air for the Park for her painting, “Oxbow Light Triptych,” which is now in the permanent collection.
