Hand-painted watercolor depicting lotus flowers in various stages of bloom. The lotus flower holds profound symbolic significance in many cultures, representing spirituality and enlightenment. Growing from the mud and rising above the water's surface, it is metaphorically seen as a symbol of spiritual ascension and purity. Creation and Creative Power: In some cultures, the lotus flower is associated with creation and creative power. The perfect, geometric arrangement of its petals is considered an expression of divine harmony. Self-purification and Purity: The lotus flower possesses the unique quality of water rolling off its leaves without leaving any residue. This is often interpreted as a symbol of physical and spiritual purity through self-cleansing. Acceptance of Change: As the lotus flower undergoes various growth stages, it is also linked to the acceptance of change and the flow of life. Judit Fortelny is an illustrator and artist living and working in Vienna, Austria. Her work is a combination of watercolor illustrations and mixed media paper work where she uses historical photographs and postcards to transform thoughts and ideas into images. Focusing her work on watercolor, paper, and vintage memorabilia, Judit Fortelny produces delicate and fragile works that can range from small curiosity boxes to large-scale watercolor paintings. She is inspired by a desire to explore the complexity of time, history and the ephemerality of nature. The excitement and curiosity comes from pushing the boundaries with a medium and the continuous process of transforming the paper in new directions. Themes of opposing forces also run through her work - fragility and strength and heaviness and lightness.
