I have always had art in my blood, and inspired by my uncle Ted who was a sketch artist, I worked hard developing my drawing and printing skills at school, in readiness for my art and design exams. I migrated to Sydney Australia in 1978, and exhibited scraperboard etchings at a Glebe gallery, and & I entered works in oils into Campbelltown art shows, winning second prize. In 2004 I was introduced to Encaustic art, and a great love affair using coloured beeswax as a medium, began. I have entered wax paintings in local exhibitions and had an article published about encaustic art in a national magazine. After learning how to apply wax onto card, I developed painting with wax on canvas, and my works are creating increasing interest, as it is an unusual, and fascinating medium. I went to Egypt and studied ancient encaustic works in the Cairo Museum, and whilst there, met up with U.K. encaustic artist, John O'Carroll. John is an internationally recognised encaustician who has exhibited throughout Europe. I have had a solo exhibition at Faulconbridge in The Blue Mountains and taken part in exhibitions at The Archetype Gallery Paddington, and The TAP Gallery, Darlinghurst. My art has raised money for children's cancer research from artworks based around celebrity actor Gina Riley denim jeans, and for fundraisers to save an Indigenous art co-operative gallery "Boomali" in Sydney. Two of my donated works are on permanent display in Nepean Hospital, Western Sydney.
