About The Artwork

"My intention is to create a visual world in which the viewer is invited to explore complex questions of life. The backbone of my work is defined by the willingness to provide a source of reference and inspiration. Movements in time are collected by codes to express feelings and emotions related to space, form, and light. The combination of drawing and painting, the mixture of different mediums on paper stretched on canvas, and various techniques of pencil and brush strokes result in a genuine visual language, waiting to be decoded." Carita Schmidt graduated with a BA from the Dramatiska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden (today University College of Performing Arts). Her work has been exhibited in many international exhibitions, galleries and institutions, among them the Archaological Museum of Kavala, Northern Greece. She lives and works in Berlin since 2012. Since November 2019 Carita Schmidt is a cooperating Artist with the d/a/c art space in Miami. She is presented in the upcoming edition of Capsules book Volumne2, Contemporary Leading Artists. Book release in May 2020. For this serie I have created some artworks playing with forms and lines one can find in the woods in the North. In the islands of Finland there are seldom boarders. This is what inspired me. Here in a artistic way the viewer can see the landscape through different "cuts", while I let the graphic patterns of forms and lines find a new direction - out of space - traveling free, crossing the horizon. Thanks for looking!
