This is a painting from the Genevieve Leavold's Yielding collection - Paintings exploring the idea of softness as strength - Taking inspiration from the Taoist Philosophy "The softest thing can overcome the hardest" Lao Tsu These paintings take forms from smoke, fire, water and air - and have the artists characteristic gestural brushwork. The lines are subtle and tumbling, and within each image there's a feeling of half formed things - like the faces int clouds. While Away is about slowing down - taking time to just be and not so much to do. The idea of whiling away the hours is quite alien to our modern life. We are rewarded for our productivity but this painting is a place for you to take time out, slow down and soften your focus for a while. Genevieve Leavold is a British abstract Painter based in Frome, U.K. Predominantly known for her freeform, organic paintings, her reverence for spontaneous gesture in her paintings draws from Zen, Buddhism and other ancient Eastern philosophies which embrace the beauty of purposelessness and play. Her whole approach is one of immediacy, working wet colour into wet and layering glazes gives her work its recognisable softness and form. b.1980 Somerset UK. Genevieve Leavold originally trained and worked in Theatre Design before taking the decision to return her focus to painting. She completed studio courses at Central Saint Martin in 2007 and 2012. She has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and the USA and has work in private and corporate collections worldwide.
