This is one of my personal favorites. The color combination of chartreuse and aqua is used frequently in my work. Here I have combined dried Japanese maple leaves and wild grasses to create this image.

April Jordan, artist DBA: A. Jordan Originals SPECIALIZING IN MONOTYPE PRINTMAKING Billowy clouds, peaceful farms with rolling hills, fields of colorful wildflowers and grasses, mountains shrouded in morning fog, fiery sunsets, and autumn’s bright orange and yellow leaves are just a few of the breathtaking scenes in Northeast Tennessee making this area, quite simply, an artist’s paradise—and April’s home. April Jordan was born in Kingsport, Tennessee in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. She began creating art at an early age and was taught by her father, an extraordinarily talented artist, from early childhood. In high school, she attended advanced art classes where she learned to work in a variety of mediums from pen and ink to oil pastel to charcoal and watercolor. In her early twenties April moved to Southern California and attended California State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Although working as an accountant for many years, April continued practicing her art in her spare time. Many of her works during this time were done in acrylics. In 2001 April moved back to her hometown where she married her husband, Jeff, and began concentrating fulltime on her artwork. She joined the Kingsport Art Guild meeting many local artists and attending local art classes. It was then April was introduced to monotype printmaking by a fellow art guild member. It was love at first sight. The uniqueness, the variety of techniques, and the element of surprise make monotype printing both thrilling and addicting! (**For an explanation of this medium, see below) Her love of monotype printing steered her artwork in a whole new direction. She began working in this medium almost exclusively being mentored and taught by that same art guild member. In 2008, she attended a multi-day, comprehensive monotype workshop in Spruce Pine, North Carolina conducted by Ringling College of Art and Design. Her artwork has won awards in local art shows—Appalachian Art Show, Fun Fest Art Show, and Kingsport Art Guild Members shows. Her works have also been displayed in various local exhibitions and restaurants. Currently, April works solely in monotype printmaking in her home studio where she is equipped with a professional printing press made by the New Mexico company, Takach.
