The canvas began with bison around the clock, and slowly they were all covered up as what was truly in my heart to express for this painting came forward. I had been wanting to paint some type of snow scene for a while, but didn't have the right photo references. The snowy trees that slowly emerged were from imagination, which was freeing and a little bit of a daunting journey to take. I love the snow and like to wear a special snow outfit to celebrate days that are extra cold and blizzardy! Winter can get a bad wrap, but I know there is a beauty in winter unlike any other season, and that's Winter's Confidence. Instead of bison, which I do love to paint, the more delicate frame of elk seemed to fit the quiet whispers of the snowy forest better. If you look closely, you will see a lot of different marks and textures. Along with using palate knives, I continued to experiment with different tools I have picked up at the hardware store. Layers of unique texture are magical at breathing life and humanity into a painting. "Winter's Confidence" is framed in wooden float frame. The frame finish has just a touch of gold, allowing for the beauty of the raw wood to be seen.

A love for horses is what first spurred Rebekah Griffith on to master her artistic skills. At a young age, she would sit for hours with her doodle sketch practicing to capture the challenging proportions of the horse. The passions she had to create led her to Western State University in beautiful Gunnison, Colorado where she graduated with a BFA in painting in 2016. Today, Rebekah lives in the Denver area, painting and exhibiting. Rebekah continues to be inspired by a childlike love and passion for animals and the outdoors. Her work is rooted in joy, celebration and peace. Through expressive and bold painterly techniques, Rebekah uses oil paint to capture wildlife in the landscape. Rebekah believes a key element in creating authentic, strong work is to strictly use personal photo references to paint from, which are abundantly found when living in Colorado! Encouragement, warmth, and life are Rebekah’s desire to share with others through her passion to create.
