Painting: Oil on Canvas.

Wytham Woods are ancient semi-natural woodland, west of Oxford. It is owned by the University of Oxford, the gift, in 1942 of the ffennel family, following the death of their only daughter, Hazel. The university agreed to maintain their natural beauty, to allow their continued use for education and research and that the woods should be enjoyed by the inhabitants of Oxford. The indigenous species of oak and beech create a magnificent display in autumn with shades of copper and gold.
