Uroš Weinberger (1975, Slovenia) is a contemporary visual artist based in Ljubljana whose work critically examines the ideological and visual infrastructures through which reality, the future, and the human condition are constructed. Working at the intersection of digital collage and painting, Weinberger creates futuristic and anti-utopian images that resonate with the visual language of our technological age. His work draws on images found online, which he digitally assembles and later transforms into oil paintings, combining virtual imagery with traditional painterly techniques. His paintings depict artificial landscapes, enclosed habitats, and speculative ecosystems. These imagined environments reflect a world in which nature, technology, and human life are increasingly intertwined. Through fluorescent colors, impasto, glazing layers, glitch-like surfaces, and layered compositions, Weinberger reflects on how ideas of progress and innovation shape imagined futures, while subtly questioning their social, technological, and environmental consequences. At the same time, his work interrogates how contemporary imaginaries are shaped by transhumanism, techno-utopianism, and late-capitalist modes of governance, particularly in relation to the management, segmentation, and regulation of bodies, populations, and environments. His work has been presented at international art fairs, including Art Market Budapest, Budapest, Hungary, Nesvrstani, Zagreb, Croatia, Kunstmarkt, Ravensburg, Germany and ART BODENSEE, Dornbirn, Austria. In recent years, Weinberger has received several major recognitions, including the Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant (2025, New York, USA), the Trdina Award for important permanent achievements in the field of visual art (2022, Novo mesto, Slovenia), the University of Ljubljana’s highest artistic recognition for important works of art (2018, Ljubljana, Slovenia) and the Prešeren Award for Students by University of Ljubljana, (2001, Ljubljana) Slovenia. His artworks are included in major public and private collections. He is represented by Y Gallery.
